Moldova - Finally found a Home

Danik is my name and live in Moldova. I am an outcast. My parents split and my mother went to Russia and my father went to Romania. I was left on the street. I know my mother loves me and will come back for me when she finds a job, and earns some money to take care of me.

In the mean time I have learned to steal, cheat and live the life of a thief. I wear whatever I can steal from the clothes lines. It has been a year since my mother said “good bye” and life has never been the same. I cry every night because I miss my mother. I miss her voice and her smile and her kind words. I am saddened because her face is fading in my memory. I have no picture of my mother. My father never cared for me.

One day a man sat beside me on the bench and had some bread, cheese and a sweet drink – a coke. I ate it and asked him why he did that for me. He said that I reminded him of an angel sent by God. I was stunned. He was a kind man, and his eyes were filled with soft and gentleness.

After a short conversation he invited me to come to a house and clean up. I soon realised that it wasn’t an ordinary house because it had chairs for many people. That night many people came to sing, pray and listen to a Book that was read and something was explained. That night the kind man suggested I stay in the house with the night guard.

It was a good night with a hot meal and a warm blanket. I slept very well. The next morning I was ready to leave for the street and the guard told me that I had to sit and listen to a story while I ate my morning soup and bread. The man read a story about Joseph and Mary and a baby that had no room in the inn. I asked him to read more after he stopped. I was willing to listen if he provided another meal during the day. Without looking for my next meal, I sat on the soft blanket as the man read to me. The story became very interesting as Jesus had to flee Jerusalem for Egypt. The man stopped reading, so I took the book and slowly continued to read the story about Jesus. We had a hot meal with bread but I was interested in the story and continued to read. It became dark but the man didn’t ask me to leave. I read late into the night and fell asleep.

I live in the church and help the guards to clean, wash and care for the house which I soon learned was a Church. I completed the Bible League Project Philip series and today I am believer in Jesus. I know now that Christ is my Lord and Saviour. I pray for my mother that she will find good people to help her get a Bible in Russia. I forgave my father for hating me and I hope he finds that hate isn’t the answer. Thank you for making the Bible understandable to me.
